The Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners (IHRMP), Ghana has made progress during the year under review.
This was revealed in a report delivered by the President of the Institute, Dr. Edward Kwapong at the Institute’s 2018 Annual General Meeting.
In other parts of his report, Dr. Kwapong also provided progress updates and highlighted the following:
- The HR Bill – had received Cabinet approval in July 2018, gazetted in August 2018 and was expected to be laid before Parliament, the passage of which would give the Institute the legal recognition to regulate the HR profession and practice in the country.
- The Institute’s HR Complex Annex – commenced in December 2017 is progressing steadily and expected to be completed for use latest by the first quarter of 2019.
- Expansion – In addition to the existing branches, the Institute was able to establish a new branch in Tarkwa and has since launched that Chapter.
Concluding his remark, Dr. Kwapong stated that ‘’we are steadfast in our determination to make our Institute the PROFESSIONAL HR BODY OF CHOICE’’ and thus invited all to come on board as institutional citizens and not spectators in this effort.
Earlier in his welcome address among other things, the Executive Director, Mr. Ebenezer Agbettor, acknowledged the efforts of many. He also paid glowing tribute to:
- Tropical Cable Company Limited for supporting the HR Complex Annex Building project with cables worth GHS 12,000.
- Zenith Bank and Agricultural Development Bank for receipt of cash donations of GHS10, 000 and GHS5,000 respectively.
- Paul Nartey and members of the HR Complex Annex Building Project for the work done so far.
- Alexander Williams, Chairman of the Constitutional Review Committee for his support services for the advancement of the HR Bill so far.
Mr, Agbettor also averted the minds of members to the unfortunate demise of Messrs. Komla Deku of Dekhab Associates, the Institute’s Auditing Firm and Brigadier General Gilbert Salifu Yakubu of the Ghana Armed Forces, a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners, Ghana.
The well patronised AGM also witnessed a representation of corporate bodies including the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana, Chartered Institute of Supply Chain Management (CISM), the Trade Union Congress, Dekhab Associates, a leading global HR Consultancy Company and partner of the Institute, Mercer South Africa among others.
