Overview
The Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana (CIHRM) is the only statutory professional body mandated to regulate, develop, and promote human resource management (HRM) practice in Ghana. Established under the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana Act, 2020 (Act 1020), the Institute ensures professional standards in HR practice, conducts examinations, certifies practitioners, and advances research and training in HRM.
The HR function has expanded beyond its previous focus on operational and administrative activities to a more dynamic, data-driven and strategic orientation. The HR Practitioner is expected to add value to the business by designing and aligning HR Strategies, systems and policies to organizational goals and strategies. This requires professional HR knowledge, skills, values and attitudes which are available through professional development.
It is against this background that the Institute designed and launched the 4-Level Professional Certification Programme (PCP) in September 2002.
