The 2017 AGM of the Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners (IHRMP) Ghana, was held at the Accra International Conference Centre on 10th November 2017, under the theme “Talent Management – A Necessity for Competitive Advantage”
The Keynote Speaker was Mrs. Mansa Nettey, Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank, Ghana.
She urged Human Resource Management practitioners to deploy strategies for keeping highly engaged employees for the benefit of their respective organizations. She explained Employee Engagement as how to create the conditions in which employees offer the best of their capability and potential, which also involves having a well thought-through employee value proposition. “Highly engaged employees are a great asset to any organization. Their aim is how to take the organization to the next level,” she said.
Mrs. Nettey also observed that HR Managers and management in general have a key role to play in sustaining and actively engaging employees.
She acknowledged that although the greatest asset of an organization is its people, the main challenge facing many organizations today is how to effectively manage this very important asset. According to her, many customers are attracted to organizations not because of their products and policies, but because of its people.
She therefore said there was the need for conscious efforts to be made to effectively identify and manage talents that any organization requires for progress.
The meeting brought together 251 members across o nation.
The event was also covered by 16 different media houses, as part of the visibility drive of the Institute.
