Introduction
For an Associate Member of the Institute to be admitted as a Chartered Human Resource Management Practitioner, he/she shall submit a project work and satisfy the Professional Certification Board that he/she has 3 or more years of relevant HR work experience.
It is in line with the above that the Project work guidelines have been written to give an overview of the “what”, “when” and “how” of the expected Project work.
Guidelines
- Focus areas for Project work shall take the form of HR systems, policies, strategies, job descriptions, manuals, etc put together by a student.
- Project work shall not be an academic document nor copied from a textbook or other sources. Project work shall be the original idea/authentic work of the student.
- While a project work may follow a known format or design, and be based on a known concept or principle, it should meet the following three (3) criteria:
(i) value-added content: it should be of use to the organization where the student works. It may be in the form of an innovation or improvement of what was in existence.
(ii) original or independent wording: it should not be copied from any other source, not a consultancy work done by a consultant for their organization but if the work was done in collaboration with the consultant the student should clearly indicate/acknowledge the specific contribution and additional input areas of the consultant. This should be referenced in the document.
(iii) application value: It should be capable of solving an organizational problem or addressing an organizational need.
NB: For a student to be successfully assessed, he/she should demonstrate the application of knowledge acquired on the Professional Certification Programme (PCP).
- Each of the three (3) listed criteria above shall attract a maximum score of ten (10) points. Project work shall be evaluated against the three (3) listed criteria, and shall be accepted when it scores eighteen (18) or sixty per cent (60%) or more of the total points and has a minimum of five (5) points in each of the criteria.
- Copies of Project work shall be neatly typed and bound. Draft copies shall have a comb binding while the final copy for the library shall be hardcover.
